The Rain

Slowly; so slowly in fact that it went unnoticed by everyone, the clouds crept across the sky obscuring the sun until the land was enveloped in darkness. Without warning, Mother Nature began her song. The cracks of thunder boomed overhead and lightning lit the darkness. She played the sky in much the same way as those long-dead composers of old, such that, if one watched carefully, he might swear an oath to all the old and new gods alike that she timed her fury to the fourth movement of Beethoven’s Sixth.
