I am never surprised by another’s level of self-awareness (or lack thereof). That’s just human nature, after all. But what does continue to surprise me is that it is so often it out on blatant display.
Let me be clear, this is not a comment on the Russo-Ukraine war. Nor is it a political comment. This is a comment on human behavior.
Recently, Vladimir Putin declared that any Russians who protest the war in Ukraine are “scum” and “traitors”. Many now howl in outrage that he could say something like that about his fellow Russians. And yet . . .
. . . and yet, many who cry out against Putin’s words are the very same people who have called their fellow Americans who protested against mandates, closures, and gas prices “selfish and narcissistic”, “anti-American”, and “scum.”
To them I say: Put away your ideological blinders for a moment and unfetter your mind from the biases that you hold. Look in the mirror and ask yourself, “How are my words any different from what Putin has said? How am I any different?”
If you are honest, the answer is self-evident.
